Graham Fraser - Owner and Educator
I have worked as an outdoor educator for pre-school children since 2010. I began at Woodland Outdoor Kindergartens in Glasgow, Scotland, before moving to Canada to join the Reggio Emilia-inspired Alderwood House School in Richmond, BC. Most recently, I have been at West Point Grey Academy in Vancouver as a teacher in their inquiry-based junior kindergarten program.
Whilst I greatly enjoyed my time at all these amazing schools, I decided in 2018 that the time was right to finally open my own school, and now we have Woods and Waves Outdoor Learning.
Ms. Iris - Play Facilitator
Ms. Iris has been with us since 2024 and is amazing at forming close bonds with all the children through her calm, caring nature.
Originally from Mexico, Ms. Iris was also a former W&W parent, with her son joining us for two years. She run the second of our two groups this summer and is well loved by all the children.
Ms. Chenoa - Play Facilitator
Ms. Chenoa has been with us since winter 2026 and is already a huge hit with the group, bringing positive energy and warmth to every day and to everyone.
Raised in Bali, Ms. Chenoa has experience working with several outdoor programs both there and here in BC.
Part-time Employment
Woods and Waves is always looking for part-time / bank staff. We also hire year round for spring and summer camp staff.
Spend your days outdoors at Jericho Beach Park, caring, exploring, and nurturing play for children aged 3-7.
From soccer games to blackberry picking, rock and tree climbing, story time in the shade, hide-and-seek in the woods, and setting up a “coffee shop” by the waves, each day will be filled with fun and variety.
The ideal candidate will be caring, attentive, imaginative, and passionate about play.
Position Details:
- Pay: $18–$25 per hour, depending on experience
- Requirements: Criminal record check, First Aid certification
- A car is an asset but not required
- If on a working visa, please ensure it allows you to work in childcare
